Nothing takes me back down HBCU memory lane like taking a trip down to my alma mater (Awww HU!) for Homecoming.

Well, the founders of HBCU SpringComing didn't want us to have to wait until Fall to feel those nostalgic good vibes.

Catch the photo diary recap by clicking "More Werk".

The founders and I began our journey together by running around doing last minute errands before the start of HBCU SpringComing on Thursday morning. With the help of the cool features like the Apple Car Play, Enhanced Park Assist and the huge amount of trunk space with the foot activated lift gate from the Ford Escape, we were able to find co-founder George (yeah, we lost him for a second) and knock out everything on the to-do list before the festivities began.

Check out the video(s) here and here.

Thursday evening kicked off HBCU SpringComing with a special screening of "Tell Them We Are Rising: The Story of Black Colleges and Universities".
This documentary will premiere in February 2018 on PBS. It's a must watch!
Friday morning was all about the Innovation Lab hosted by Twitter.
The Innovation Lab was your senior group project reincarnated!

Thinking of a master plan!
We had the best brains in the building creating a plan to encourage HBCU donations through the use of technology.

Saturday started off with a real and raw panel discussion around entrepreneurship.  We talked about our hills and valleys and everything in between.
Major Key: Everybody wants to be a boss until it's time to be a boss!
I must have been thinking about how much fun 'The Yard' was going to be even in the rain.
One thing that you must know about HBCU graduates, we are resilient and persistent.
We don't let too much of anything (like rain) get in the way of our goals (like having a good time at 'The Yard')
The entire weekend was really all about scholarship!
Three scholarships were awarded to deserving students totaling over $9000.

HU was IN the building!
After the party it's the after party better known as 'The Kickback".
We took the lituation inside and almost shut the Harlem block party down.
Spring has sprung and we were ready for the turn up!

On Sunday, the weather gods bestowed upon us the perfect weather to end HBCU SpringComing with a bang!

This was the calm before the storm at the 'Hav Plenty' Brunch.
Shout out to Kayla Wimbush (on the right) from UniWorld for all the Ford Motor Company support during the weekend!
The Storm!
If you know anything about the 'Hav Plenty' brunch, you know that you're guaranteed to have a great time in a great location with some great people.
Special shout out to the founders of HBCU SpringComing, Lauren Grant and George Twopointoh, for their energy and dedication to scholarship.

Special thank you to Ford Motor Company and UniWorld for sponsoring this event!

  1. You instantly took me back talking about validation stickers. I can see the Pals now singing "All I want is a sticker"!
