Memo 194: It's About that Time

To: All
From: Me
Date: August 27, 2015
Subject: Skorts + Pom Poms
__________________________________________________________________________________

So, after much deliberation, it has come to the point of my life where some things must go. The only thing constant in this world is change anyway, right? I mean, we just can't continue to stay the same. We must evolve and grow.

The next time you see me, God willing, these braids will be gone. It's been real but they've gotsta go! Farewell, sayonara, peace out, deuces and all that jazz.

They've been super convenient and have allowed me to completely lose my mind in the gym with no worries. However, she, me, her misses her hair. Currently, experiencing real hair withdrawal.

Memo 191: Ruffle My Shorts

To: All
From: Me
Date: August 5, 2015
Subject: Peplum's at it Again
__________________________________________________________________________________

Do you remember that season when it was all peplum everything?! OMG, I was SO completely over it. Like, I didn't want to see another ruffle around a waistline in my entire life. Then I saw these Cameo "It's Time" shorts and decided peplum was on again. Please don't wear it out like the last time. Pinky swear promise, ok?

Memo 150: A Tiered Skirt Walk Around Central Park

To: All
From: Me
Date: September 17, 2014
Subject: NYFW Look 1
_____________________________________________________________________________________

As you know from the last time that I was in New York for fashion week, I like to play tourist in between the shows. Well, on this day, I took a little stroll through Central Park.

Just in case you weren't aware, New York was experiencing a little bit of a heat wave. Like any good traveler, I checked the weather prior to my arrival. However, living in Arizona has my gauge for weather completely screwed up. Ninety-five degrees is a nice day.

So, I saw 80 and packed as if I read 65 degrees. My bag was full of cooler weather options like this embellished sweater and tiered maxi skirt. Lesson learned: Sometimes, you will have to make some sacrifices in the name of fashion.

Yes, I was hot.

Memo 144: On the Foot

To: All
From: Me
Date: July 29, 2014
Subject: Make A Statement with Sophia Webster
_____________________________________________________________________________________

Nothing does my spirit right like a good statement shoe. I will be the first to admit that this Sophia Webster Mila Sandal was a good mix between intriguing and intimidating. I just didn't know how it would look on the foot. Some statement shoes can be a little too much for life but that wasn't the case with this particular shoe. She turned out to be a real black-suede-caged-sandal winner.

Memo 098: Quality Find

To: All
From: Me
Date: November 5, 2013
Subject: Quality and Quantity
_____________________________________________________________________________________

Sweet Jesus, H&M, you just speak to my soul sometimes.

Two words: This. SKIRT.

Sometimes, when you get into the habit of shopping fast fashion retailers you may need a little reminder of what a quality piece looks like. I usually hop over to the luxury retailers pretty often just to make sure I keep my eye for it.

Ya'll, this skirt was handcrafted with unicorn wings and fairy dust. No, seriously.

Memo 096: I'm ONE!!!

To: All
From: Me
Date: October 30, 2013
Subject: HUHC Outfit Recap: Sunday Brunch/Day Party
_____________________________________________________________________________________

Happy One Year Blogaversary to me!!

I'm super excited to be here and I'm so glad that you've been along for the ride. I can't wait to see what the next year has in store for this blog. As a way to show my appreciation, I'm giving one of you lucky readers a gift! Click "More Werk" for the details.

On to the outfit...

This is my Howard University Homecoming look from the Sunday Brunch/Day Party. Yes, you read that right. There was a brunch immediately followed by a day party. I'm not sure to this day who played in the football game or who won but I did know the time and location of every party going on this past weekend! I felt that this look fit both of the occasions. It was girly enough for a Sunday brunch and jazzy enough for the day party!

Memo 091: Boom Box

To: All
From: Me
Date: October 11, 2013
Subject: 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target Boom Sweatshirt - Look 3
_____________________________________________________________________________________

How 80s of me, I know. I couldn't resist. And it was completely by accident. I started with the Armani Exchange denim pageboy hat and the Melody Ehsani Queen of the Jungle Necklace just felt so right. We won't even talk about the skirt. Like, let's not even acknowledge it.

Wait, but the skirt was $20. Ok, I won't mention the skirt again. Hold on, but people left it in the store for WEEKS! Like, no one even wanted it. I'm done talking about it. For real this time, I won't mention the skirt again.

One last thing, there were a few sequins missing from the front of the skirt BUT a few missing sequins should NEVER stop you from having something fabulous.

Message: Get a good tailor in your life. Now.

Anyway, check out the video. It's poetry in motion.
