I have been on a shorts kick lately. Like, I've just been drawn to them for no good reason at all except that they look cute. Well, that's reason enough. I've been specifically paying attention to the cut. Some shorts, especially when we're talking about fast fashion (H&M, Nasty Gal, Zara, etc.), can look absolutely horrid on the leg. HORRID.

Well, that wasn't the case for these Nasty Gal It's A Trip Shorts. The tulip overlay merged with the scalloped lace trim performs a little elongating magic on the leg that makes them a must have for the summer. Don't judge me if I wear these everyday, ok? 

They're that good.

Memo 134: One Last Look

I have literally had the shoes in this look for almost two years without wearing them. I was all set to return them and then I gave them one last look. See, it's not unusual for me to see things at the moment of purchase that seem completely amazing yet when they arrive in the safety of my closet, they may or may not make it out to see the light of day. 

So, I squinted my eyes and tilted my head and saw them in a different light. When paired with these printed Whit shorts, nothing about me could return these beauties. So, they have finally been worn and saved from the tragedy of return.

Memo 133: Play your Cardigans Right

Two words: Cinched Waist.

Remember how I always talk about this. When I say always, I mean like two times. Here you have this simple Southwestern Forever 21 Cardigan. Add this BCBG Peplum Belt to cinch the waist and it takes the cardigan from 21 to twenty-wonderful in ten seconds flat!

Ok, it may take you a little more than ten seconds to zip the zipper on the belt but you get the point. 

For those summer nights when you want to get into a little trouble; cinch the waist, show a little leg and J-Lo them with the cleavage.

A day past THEE day and I'm feeling pretty….(hungover) much the same as I did two days ago before THEE day. I'm not sure why we (women) get so bent out of shape about a little ol' birthday. We're not doing anything but getting older, wiser and better with time!

So, cheers to another year here in this crazy life of mine. It's about to get really bananas. Just wait for it.

Memo 131: Bad Hair Day or Nah?

I love this short hair cut, I really do, and I love working out (most of the time). 

But the short hair cut doesn't like that I work out and working out could care less about the short hair cut. They just don't get along at all but they need to co-exhist in my life right now. So, when a visit to the salon isn't in my immediate future, I depend on several trusty hats and turbans. 

I just bought this one from ASOS and she's a beautiful little addition to the collection. Welcome.

The countdown is on! I'm T - 5 days away from the b-day. I think the older I get, the faster they come. It's just a good reminder to be intentional about what you do with your time. Somebody, tell the person in charge of time to slow it down a little, please!

Anyway, the look for today features a nude palette with, of course, a pop of orange. This is probably getting a little predictable but if ain't broke don't fix it or change is good. So, maybe next time, I'll switch it up or not.

Memo 129: Out of the Blue!

Like, last year, I normally do a little reflecting as I count down the days to my birthday. Sometimes, I forget to sit in the corner and think about all that I have done. Well, folks, today I'm in the corner!

Since last May, I've:

• Cut off all of my hair!
• Had a photo shoot with my crazy friend and photographer, Elton Anderson. (Remember these?)
• Stayed up well past my bedtime and into the wee hours of the morning to re-evaluate my entire life when Beyonce dropped a surprise album with accompanying videos at midnight of some random day in December.
• Celebrated my mom's 60th Birthday in Vegas.
• Been nominated and voted Fashion Bomb Daily's Bombshell of the Year for 2013.
• Galavanted all over London and Amsterdam.
• Studied at the London College of Fashion.
• Traveled to New York in the middle of the biggest snow storm in North America for the Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week.
• Gotten kidnapped by the state of New York for four additional days post Fashion Week.
• Met two of my fashion idols: June Ambrose at New York Fashion Week and Solange at Coachella.
• Attended the International Coachella Music festival and lost my black mind to Pharrell's entire set.

I'm pretty sure I'm leaving some things off but what a freaking year! I'm telling ya'll to get in a corner and look back over your life.
