Memo 128: In the Nude

To: All
From: Me

Subject: Nude Shoes

So, I kind of love nude shoes. They're the unappreciated savior of the day.

Remember my nude Maudissma Christian Louboutins? Yeah, they've been sent on to shoe heaven. I, well, my cobbler, tried his best to revive them, trust me he did, but there was no repairing that broken heel and I had to let them go. They were my FAVS! A small piece of my soul died with those shoes.

Now, my go to nude shoes are these Charlotte Olymipa Dolly Slingbacks worn with this look. Not a bad second choice, I know.

However, can we please take a moment of silence for the Maudissmas?

Memo 127: Ten Words of Wisdom for Coachella

To: All
From: Me
Date: April 28, 2014
Subject: Three Words

Coa. Chell. Ah!

Now, that I have regained about 85% of the feeling in my lower body, I want to share a little Coachella wisdom for next year:
  1. Purchase orthopedic shoes and a back support. I saw a girl in heels and I swear a single tear fell in remembrance of her hips and knees. Seriously, wear comfortable shoes. Not flat shoes, COMFORTABLE shoes with arch supports and custom insoles.
  2. Bring Ibuprofen for the pain. Thank me later.
  3. About a month before you go to Coachella, start parking your car at home and walk to work. I'm serious.
  4. The week before Coachella, find a herd of elephants going in one direction and then walk through them in the exact opposite direction.
  5. Go to the mall with your friends on a busy Saturday, turn off your phone and get lost. Now, try to find each other.
  6. "Don't bring a blanket" because they're not allowed but bring a scarf that opens up to the same size as a blanket. Winning!
  7. "Don't bring alcohol" but...bring alcohol. Be creative and figure that one out on your own.
  8. Bring ear plugs. I'm serious.
  9. Eat at the Kogi BBQ Food truck religiously like it's your last meal…everyday. Thank me later.
  10. And last but not least, have a F-ing ball. Rock out to some of your favorite artists and fall in love with some new ones. Dance until your body gives out (because it will) and meet some awesome people while doing it!

Memo 126: Fringe Benefits

To: All
From: Me

Subject: I'll Take that Fringe with a Side of Studs!
_____________________________________________________________________________________

This week I'm hyper-focused on prepping for Coachella. I'm T-3 days out from the much anticipated road trip to Palm Springs. I'm a first timer and I'm completely and absolutely not sure of what to expect. More importantly, I have no idea what I'm wearing. I seriously don't have even a little bit of a clue. I'll go sit on the floor of my closet until it comes to me.

Thanks to Instagram, I've been able to see what people wore last weekend and I've been taking notes. All week, I've been looking at pieces and calling them "so Coachella". Used in a sentence, "These clear sunglasses are so Coachella."

Here's my first attempt at a look that may be "so Coachella" (minus the wedges, of course).

Memo 125: Son of a Beach!

To: All
From: Me
Date: April 4, 2014
Subject: Venice Beach Flow

If it's still snowing where you live, I'm really so very sorry to do this to you but…you should move. Ok, maybe not move but you should leave for a little while. And by "little while", I mean all of the winter months! There are places in the world that are warm and have been warm for a while now.

As a former Michiganian, I know how brutal the winter ("fall" and "spring") months can be. And guess what? I moved. Yeah, I'm definitely a weather snob!

Anyway, during a little weekend getaway to LA, the girls and I spent a nice breezy morning riding bikes, running people over and taking names on Venice Beach. And I honestly didn't coordinate this clash of chevron-polka dot-ruffled-striped sweetness with the bicycle. However, sometimes, when you're not even paying attention, things just werk out!
