Memo 169: Bundled Up

To: All
From: Me
Date: January 14, 2015
Subject: Hayes Valley
_____________________________________________________________________________________

On my recent visit to San Francisco, I read a list online about all the things that you should not do while you're visiting. Of course, I wanted to window shop but the list told me NOT to go to Union Square. Instead, it said to browse the boutiques in Hayes Valley and that's just what I did!

Albeit, the boutiques were super cute and unique, I was, however, in San Fran right after Christmas and the person that I was with (read: my mom) wanted to experience a little bit more holiday cheer. Do you know where they had the holiday cheer? At Union Square. I will definitely return to Hayes Valley hopefully during an end of the season sale and a warmer less breezy day. Count on that!

Yeah, so about that breeze. I wasn't ready for it.  I hear 56 degrees Fahrenheit and it really doesn't translate. Living in Arizona has completely thrown off my weather barometer. I thought that this look would be appropriate for 56 degrees of coolness and I would have been right if not for the wind. See, that wind is a completely different beast.

Note to self: Stay Inside.

Memo 168: Pursuit of Happiness

To: All
From: Me
Date: January 9, 2015
Subject: Faux Fur + Fringe Realness
_____________________________________________________________________________________

Dude, we are already NINE days into 2015. How, Jesus? Why, Lord!

Early last year, I started reading a book called The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. In the introduction, she talks about resolutions and defining her own personal commandments. She came up with twelve. The first and I think the most important of her twelve was "Be Gretchen". Simple in concept yet realistically so hard to do.

Think about that. In a world where we are constantly bombarded with imagery to be everything but who we are, that first commandment says to find out who you are, like who you are and fight everyday to relentlessly and unapologetically be that person.

*logs off to go find a corner*

Whenever I get around to writing my commandments, "Be Tiffany" will be highlighted, bolded and underlined as a friendly reminder to never waiver, never settle, and to unapologetically be me.

In continuing to be me, I'm coming into this new year in some multi-colored faux fur realness. One thing is for sure, when you have a look that's a little bold and a little daring, you have to own it. Believe in the look without hesitation. You can't walk into a room with faux fur, fringe, snakeskin, a J-Lo'd dress, a bare leg and be timid. Nah, boo. Practice at home, own that look. If not, do us all a favor and find something else to wear.

I strive to always wear my clothes and never let them wear me!

Memo 167: Rear View Mirror

To: All
From: Me
Date: January 6, 2015
Subject: Taking a Look Back
_____________________________________________________________________________________

"See, when you drive home today, you've got a big windshield on the front of your car. And you've got a little bitty rearview mirror. And the reason the windshield is so large and the rearview mirror is so small is because what's happened in your past is not near as important as what's in your future." - Joel Osteen

True story, Joel, sometimes we can get so caught up focusing on the things, good and bad, that have happened in our past that we don't pay attention to the future possibilities ahead of us.

Today, however, I do want to spend a few minutes looking back and giving a salute to the top five looks from 2014.
