Let me introduce you to one of my new best friends. Say hello to this utility jacket from Old Navy. It's one of the most versatile pieces that you can own. Dress it up or dress it down; this jacket isn't messing around. Even if you get the urge to wrangle some alligators, go in style!

Trench Cape: H&M (similar here) | Jacket: Old Navy | Denim Shirt: Bershka (similar here) | Shorts: Mink Pink (and here) |  Shoes: Madewell (similar here) | Clutch: Zara (Similar here)

I found this little gem in the midst of my frantic preparation for New York Fashion Week (Eek! Less than a week out!). So, I set aside some time to share her with you. You wouldn't believe the fit. Honestly, one of my favorite parts about this jacket may be the drawstrings. They create feminine curves for every body type. You all know how I feel about a cinched waste!

I paired this jacket with two pair of shorts (one more casual than the other), army green pants and a little dressy fringed skirt. Double it up with another piece of outerwear, open it, close it; you can literally do whatever you like. Folks, we have found a real winner with this one!

I'll say this here and now so that it is forever documented; I'm pretty sure that Chicago wins all of the awards for having the best summer ever. I fell in love with the "Chi" on this last visit with beautiful Lake Michigan views, rooftop bars over looking the Chicago skyline, bargain hunting at the Randolph Street Market and Harold's Chicken. Sign me up for all of it!

During my visit to Chicago, I had to stop by Sir & Madame in the Ukrainian Village. Fellow HU Alum, Autumn Merritt, along with her husband Brian Merritt established Sir & Madame boutique to bring classic attire with a twist to the Chicago neighborhood.

Memo 147: Six Tips for Success at a Blogger Conference

To: All
From: Me
Date: August 12, 2014
Subject: Popping My Blogger's Conference Cherry
_____________________________________________________________________________________

Two weeks ago, I attended the Simply Stylist Conference in Chicago; my first blogger's conference EVER! The #sschi (the hashtag used throughout the conference) was probably one of the better ones to attend to pop a blogger's conference cherry. It was intimate, the speakers were informative, the other attendees were open to networking and it only lasted ONE day! It was long enough to get the information and make the connections that you wanted and short enough that it didn't feel overwhelming and exhausting.

A winner in my book!

These six tips will help you be a prepared and active participant at your first or next blogger's conference:

1. Be Prepared for Real Time Social Media Coverage. Of course, you will want to Instagram and Tweet real time, so don't forget to bring your device of choice to capture special moments throughout the conference.

Memo 146: Weekend Warrior

Subject: Off Duty Style

If you catch me out on the "weekend", I'm usually wearing some variation of this look. Don't judge me but this look is super comfortable. It's especially perfect for traveling and shopping. Easy in and easy out! Seriously, TSA has nothing on me when I'm wearing this.

I, also, have this dress in black and I feel like I should have gotten about five more! It's the perfect length hitting right below the knee and did I mention that it was comfortable? Yeah, I'm in love.

Memo 145: Tunic(les) for your Thoughts

To: All
From: Me
Date: August 1, 2014
Subject: Fashion and Father Time
_____________________________________________________________________________________

I won't even address the fact that it is August 1st of 2014. Nope, I won't even mention it. Like, I won't even acknowledge the fact that time waits for no one. Time gives not one care about any of us. The more that I think about it, time is really kind of disrespectful and selfish. Because of that, we should be diligently trying to stay present and thankful for each moment. Most importantly, we should be relentless about living a life that will truly make us happy and getting there now!

Stepping down from my soapbox and on to the look...

This look is about comfort and prints. When it's 115 degrees Fahrenheit outside (yes, it gets that hot in Arizona), no one over here at The Werk! Place is trying to wear anything that doesn't breathe. I want freedom to move and pathways for air to circulate. That's exactly what this look provides.

Easy, breezy, beautiful, Tunic Girl.
